What interesting creative things can i do with my pc to make things like desktop look better?

i would like to know if i can make things like my desktop window boxes and stuff look better but how the widows xp pre set themes boring and very dull i wanna make it look better bring some life into my pc maybe download some themes of my own after all the letters PC does stand for personalized computer there must be something i can do
