Why would family members call you ugly and spread rumors?

Ever since I was young they would nitpick at me and make up flaws about me.They also tell everybody my buisness about me every little thing I do.Like I went to a program and they told everybody I wouldn't complete it.Why are they so concerned about how I look and what I do with my life plzz help me figure this out.
